Member Profile: Samuel McComas
Sam joined as a junior firefighter in 1998 and in 2002 became a member of the Rittman Fire Department. He has also worked in the private sector at Stark Summit/Smith Ambulance for 8 years. He holds his EMT/FF/Inspector/Instructor card.
Sam grew up in Rittman where he continues to reside with his wife Amanda of 13 years, and children Madalynn (5 yrs old) and Grant (2 yrs old). His family enjoys the Christmas season and loves to decorate. His most memorable experience with the department is helping with the food and toy drive each year during the holidays. Advice Sam gives to anyone whom may be interested in the Fire/EMS Service- “be willing to give a lot of time, and make a commitment to your department and community.”
Sam currently works several days a week at Rittman Fire and also our neighboring department, Sterling Fire District. While working on shift Sam enjoys table-top discussion and sharing his skills/knowledge with the new generation of FF/EMT’s.
