Member Spotlight: Drew Scott
This week’s spotlight features EMT, Drew Scott. Drew was one of the first new members to join after the Rittman Fire and Rittman EMS entities merged together in 2019. Drew graduated from Rittman High School in 2006 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was an infantry man/squad leader, and during his time was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and was part of the Marine Expeditionary Unit as a world wide react force. Drew medically retired in 2013 after 7 years.
Drew grew up in Rittman and was a part of the Boy Scout Troop 405 and achieved rank of Eagle Scout. He played the drums in band, and was on the Rittman High School Soccer Team. He currently resides in Rittman with his wife of 15 years, Danielle, whom is also a member of the department, and his 2 children Kaylynn (14), and Christopher (6). In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking, drawing, and playing legos with his son.
One of Drew’s most memorable funny stories was an early morning medical alert call around 2am to a residence. After knocking several times with no answer, 20 minutes later a female came to the door stating the pendant did not belong to her. Oops, what a way to wake up at 2am!
“This isn’t an easy job; a lot of hard work and dedication is needed to keep the department going. Remember this is like a pack mentality, everyone is here to help and get you trained.” Drew states every day is a memorable experience and the comradery of the department is what gets you through the day-to-day operations.
Drew and his team members pride themselves on the quality of care they provide for their patients. Join them at Rittman Fire and Rescue!
