This week’s personnel spotlight features EMT, Gabriella Clair. Gabby is one of Rittman’s newest hires and has been on the department since February of 2022. She currently works with American Medical Response (AMR) in Akron and Youngstown, and previously worked at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, OH. She has been a part of four deployments with FEMA to Florida, Texas, Missouri, and New York. Three of the responses were in regard to Covid, and 1 response for hurricane relief.

Gabby states, “EMS was supposed to be a stepping stone on my way to my final destination, but I fell in love with it on the way.” Currently Gabby is working toward her degree at Stark State, and working on her Paramedic certification. In her spare time, her nephews Marshall and Deacon keep her busy, and she enjoys playing with her three dogs: Waco (great danoodle), Bayleigh (golden retriever), and Adaline (husky).

Gabby states she enjoys coming to work at Rittman because she feels as though she is walking into an environment that feels like home. “Everyone is willing to help out. I was welcomed with open arms since day one.”

When asked what advice she would give to someone whom wanted to enter the Fire/EMS service, Gabby states “Treat every patient as if they were your own family member. Don’t just listen, connect with your patient, and explain things in a way that is understandable.”
