Member Spotlight: Jason Kaufmann

Today’s personnel spotlight is FF/EMT Jason Kaufmann. Jason started his training with Chippewa Fire Department, and then moved to into the city limits of Rittman and applied to the Fire Department. While training alongside other members, Jason went to Stark State and received his volunteer fire card in 2004. When departments were encouraged to get their Firefighter Level 1 certification, Jason did so through the Wayne County Regional Training Facility. In 2015, Jason passed his State EMT-Basic training and National Registry. He states his primary objective was to fill-in where he was needed, and pick up 2nd squad calls when available.

Jason is currently an Electrical Engineer at Stanley Black and Decker. He resides in Rittman with is wife of 13 years, Anne, and his 3 children: 11-year-old twins Jessica and Jane, and 3-year-old, Daniel. The family has a dog, guinea pig, indoor cat, and several outdoor barn cats. Jason states he likes to “dabble” with electronics, computers and Amateur “Ham” Radio. He also enjoys riding dirt bikes and quads, and going fishing. He has taken private Pilot lessons and Solo’d at Skypark Airport flying small aircraft. He has also served his community, state, and nation in the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Auxiliary) for more than 20 years.

Jason states his most memorable experience during his years was one summer during a tragic event, the community and several other departments all came together and joined forces. “My favorite part about being a member is giving back to the community and the fire department comradery.”  He states to enter the service, you have to be prepared to go out on Fire/Squad calls any time day or night.

Jason and his team members pride themselves on the quality of care they provide for their patients. Join them at Rittman Fire and Rescue!
