This week’s personnel spotlight is Fire Medic Jennifer Koczur. After obtaining her certification in 2012 and working for Sterling Fire Department for several years, Jenny joined Rittman Fire Department in December of 2014 and is one of our few Fire Medics. She has also worked for Lafayette Township Fire Dept.
Aside from Rittman, she has worked for Southwest General Hospital in the Emergency room for the past 5 years. She enjoys spending her time outdoors, running, hiking, and
shooting clay pigeons. She is the oldest of 8 children, and remains close with her siblings. She has a German Shepherd named Benelli whom is trained in cadaver detection, and was a Search and Rescue K9 for many years. She also has a horse named Dakota.
Jenny states “This can be a very rewarding career, but also very demanding- mentally and physically.” She advises to always make sure you have a way to decompress and manage your stress. Jenny enjoys the energy and adrenaline that all the “excitement” gives her. “Helping people, that truly need it, is an awesome feeling that you rarely get from anything else.”
Jennifer and her team members pride themselves on the quality of care they provide for their patients. Join them at Rittman Fire and Rescue!https://www.rittmanfire.com/join/
