Member Spotlight: Margory Dheel
Meet Paramedic Margie Dheel. Margie joined Rittman EMS in May of 2012 after working several years with Smith Ambulance of Stark-Summit. She advanced her career as an Emergency Trauma Registered Nurse in 2014 and in 2021 received her Nurse Practitioner License. Today, Margie works part time at Akron City Hospital in the Emergency Room, and full time at the Oriana House Crisis Center.
In 2015, Margie married Assistant Chief Dheel inside the firehouse with many of the department’s members joining in the celebration, including being ordained by fellow Paramedic, Mike Banks. Margie states “My husband may be the boss at work, but I am the boss at home!” With the daily activities of 4 children, Alyssa, 15, Haylie, 13, Colton, 11, and Mollie 4, she states she is too busy to have any of her own hobbies. Along with the chaos of children, the household has a St. Bernard, Charlie, a Chihuahua, Bear, and a cat named Shadow.
Due to her short stature/physique, she’s commonly asked how she will be able to lift patients and whether or not she can see over the steering wheel to drive. Margie states this has never been an issue, but is very happy the department now has power cots!
Over the years she had several unforgettable experiences on the department including siren malfunctions in the middle of the night, and becoming her own enemy of vehicle sickness during past pregnancies. “It’s not all about work, we are friends and family here.” She enjoys watching everyone’s kids grow up together, and spending time together at special events.
Margory and her team members pride themselves on the quality of care they provide for their patients. Join them at Rittman Fire and Rescue!https://www.rittmanfire.com/join/
