Member Spotlight: Paul Gordon
This week’s spotlight features Firefighter 2/EMT Paul Gordon. Paul joined Rittman in 2017 and finished his Firefighter and EMT courses through the Wayne County Regional Training Facility. Paul grew up in Rittman, living next door to a Firefighter, which encouraged him to be a part of the team as well. He worked for the Medina County Water Department for 8 years before taking a position at Wadsworth Utility Department in 2021. Paul enjoys spending time down at the department, maintaining trucks and equipment, and relishing all the food that comes with being a part of the family. During challenging trainings at the department, Paul is always building his skills and setting an example for his fellow firefighters to strive to become.
One of Paul’s favorite memories since he joined the department is chasing pigs down Eastern Road one night after returning from Fire School; an interesting, stinky, and eventful evening.
Residing in Rittman with his wife Cassandra, the newlywed couple, of less than a year, shares son, Brody, 7, a dog named Spot, and cat, Gwen. He fits the characteristic “family man,” and enjoys throwing the ball with his son in the front yard, and attending his team events.
Encouraging words Paul would like to remind anyone in the Fire/EMS service, “Don’t forget why you started. Serve everybody with the same dignity and respect.”
Paul and his team pride themselves on the quality of care they provide for their patients. Join them at Rittman Fire and Rescue! https://www.rittmanfire.com/join/
