Member Spotlight: Trenton Matheny

This week’s spotlight features Firefighter 2/ EMT Trenton Matheny. Trent joined the department in April of 2022. He has also worked with the North Lawrence Fire Department since October of 2021, and NASA as a Security Officer/Emergency Medical Responder since September of 2021.

Trent graduated from Stow High School in 2014, and originally had a vision of being a police officer. In 2019 after seeing a tragic accident, he decided he wanted to provide care to people in need and enrolled in school at Stark State to obtain his EMT and Firefighter certificates. He states his lifelong goal would be to work as a Medic on the Swat Team, or work with the State Fire Marshal investigating fires. He enjoys trainings that involve vehicle extrications and seeks more opportunities to better himself.

Trenton has a six year old son (Leo), and a black lab named Raiden. He has 3 half siblings, and states he enjoys having family games nights playing Disney related games and Rummy Cube. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, deer hunting, campfires, baseball games and spending time with his son.

Trent states his favorite part of being a member at Rittman Fire is the family style atmosphere and the care that we provide for the community. Advice he gives to anyone entering the Fire/EMS service, “Continue training even after you get hired. The fire services is always changing and very dynamic. The more training you have, the better prepared you will be.”

Trenton and his team members pride themselves on the quality of care they provide for their community. Join them at Rittman Fire and Rescue!
